This may get me banned, but this topic needs to be discussed. I am very discouraged by the recent threat to ban topics deemed off track. I posted the response below on another thread, but perhaps it needs its own discussion. I haven’t read the offending post, however, this general attitude lends an air of big brother watching our every move. I’m ADD and have a very difficult time staying on topic – within my own posts. However, even for normal people, isn’t being off topic in the eye of the beholder? In my opinion, responding to posts are a form of artistic expression as literature is considered a form of art. Often, I have an off-beat approach to a lot of topics, thereby, am I always guilty of hijacking? IMO, hijacking would be interjection of some type of advertisement or something along those lines — not by adding humor, or offbeat commentary on a serious thread. The result of this censorship will be posts that may be intellectual, but boring. If one wants pure intellectual discussion, then read your professional journals. Can’t the humorless posters simply skip past the posts that interject humor to read the serious responses. Seriously, I do think this heavy handed approach results in squelching response because we (or at least I) never know when the big brothers watching over me will consider my post to be hijacking. IMO, hijacking is in the eye of the beholder. Is this REALLY where we want to go? We have enough political correctness in our everyday world. Why can we not have a forum where we have the freedom to be ourselves without the threat the censorship and banning.
yes, and yes
You can’t make a man a fisher of men by giving him fish freely
Quit giving them free fish and they’ll go seek another provider
So, by your own analogy/words, Mr. Page, you must believe that you are a vessel that has become “hardened” — which means that you are no longer pliable in God’s/The Potter’s hands! That’s unfortunate!
You can’t serve wine with a pliable vessel
And the same for you Charles Page!
Have a blessed day.
Happy Thanksgiving to you and all your beautiful family.
Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours as well.
I have heard of Happy Tom Brooks.
use to hear a lot about him, usually sermon references
Heard him preach years ago.
The Church under Pastor Edmond Stallings sold the property on Rosamond Ave and built further out on the outskirts of Memphis on Whitten Road about 1972. The Church was then called Whitten Heights COG.
Rosamond Ave Baptist Church at the same location as the COG. It is a City mission church with outreach facilities across the street. It is a multi-racial church reaching the Blacks, Hispanics as well as the white community.
this is another belated obituary posting.
Edmond Stallings Whitten Heights, Memphis, Tennessee, youth choir with Edmond playing the piano and leading the choir. I found this in my dad and mom’s things recently.
Norman and I along with Raymond Conn ran around in Chattanooga back in the day. Just in the summer prior to being published in the Army. bout 1965,66
