Consider that I never met my great-grandfather, who fought in the Civil War. In fact, he died nearly 40 years before I was born.Consider that I don’t think slavery is acceptable, nor that the South was right about slavery. So WHY do so many southerners, most of us having no real connection to those events of long ago, nor sympathy with the position on slavery, feel such affinity toward the Confederate Flag? And at the same time feel such hostility toward those who would want to remove the flag?I’m serious when I ask this question. I really do not know why it matters to me, unless it is because I have somehow taken it to be a slap at the South, etc.
Could you give 1000 at a denomination meeting to support a state project?
Personal or church?
All I had to do was ask my board who was easy to text and yea or nay up to a certain limit which was much higher than 1000
Do you think the executive council members did that in the meeting. They donated $100,000 in 18 different amounts from their church treasures, some 25,000 other $5,000 totaling more than $100,000. Did they have to text their churches?
I was discussing Bellevue Baptist on a page several years ago and they told me about Adrian Rogers paying a former fired staff member $500,000 dollars to keep the man from going to court to sue the church. He did this without congregational approval. The fired staff member knew too much about other staff members.
I ask about him doing that w/o church approval in conference. This was the stated position of the church. I was told you didn’t ask Dr Rogers questions like that.
This is a way of church life today.
I did do some research about this law suite and it was true Dr Rogers settled out of court.
Not enough information as usual.
And if it within the spending cap, no, I don’t see an issue at all.
Isn’t that what they were elected for?
Or is the leading of the Spirit thing letting you down now?
They meet to approve expenditures in between assemblies. It is the general funds of the denomination. They are disbursing money from their local church treasures.
No, they are not there for that!
It depends on what their local church minutes says that their capital expenditure limit is.
See Charles
That is why you need to be an active minister and member instead of trying to coach from the cheap seats.
what is your limit to spend without congregational approval?
My last church was $200

None of your business.
It is for members in good standing, financial supporters, and attendees to determine to decide.
Besides, I have money to spend that does not require approval.
It was given by me into an account for my ministry use and only requires mine and one other signature. (Notice I said given into the church by me, earmarked for my own ministry use).
Was that account accountable to the IRS? It would appear it was for your private use! Appearance, appearance
