I’ve never smoked Marijuana or eaten one of the brownies, but I have done a lot of sugar; cookies, pie, cake, ice cream, fudge and sugar brownies over the years. Research is now showing that sugar is in itself a kind of mind-altering drug.I’m no advocate of Marijuana or any other illegal drug, but are we against it because it is illegal or because people ingest it by smoking? It is legal in Colorado and one can evidently find it in forms other than smoking it. Does making it legal make it OK?Of course, MJ does affect the body Temple, but so does being overweight, not excising or eating too many hot dogs. Sadly, in addition to hot dogs, I also like sugar stuff. Just recently, the devil built a store a few miles from my house – a brand new Come and get-em while they’re hot Krispy Kream. I have to drive past the bloomin place five or six times a day. I don’t go in but… I usually want to. Isn’t there a song If wanting to is wrong, I’m struggling to do right?I have no hankering (Southern word for wanting to) for MJ – actually would rather have a Krispy Kream or Dunkin D’s.In our thinking, does MJ fall under the admonition in Scripture Be not drunk with wine… If so, does it also fall under Scripture Take a little wine for thy stomach’s sake?Would the use of MJ be grounds for expelling someone from church membership? We don’t church members or preachers for eating too many doughnuts, being far overweight or for not exercising – all which are probably more damaging to the Temple than an MJ brownie.Don’t you dare touch MJ or you’ll get ‘churched,’ but on the way home, would you please pick up several dozen Krispy Kreams? There has to be a way to bridge the gap. But both sides have to give and take. When I was pastoring in Florida our Praise and worship team would do 4 songs. We always did 2 older songs they liked and 2 songs that were somewhat newer. It didn’t matter. The older folks gripped anyway. Truth is, without gaining new young families at the church in Florida, 10 years from now the doors will be padlocked. I guess shame on me for trying.

If that’s the case the church in Florida will shut it’s doors. They don’t want to grow and we’re not going to kick them out. There is a way to coexist. My 73 year old mother whom is COG all her life is proof.
she will not be around a lot longer. I am fixing to turn 70 in another month and I plan to live as a disturber in the new churches. I have a few years left.
My father is 92 and mom is 88 and they have to just keep their mouth shut at church. They don’t like it either but they are helpless to make changes. They accept it as “the Lord is coming soon”
They also don’t agree with my views and opposition, if that offers you some consolation. I will obey God rather than man.
One Executive CoG member stated some years ago after the change of its Teachings that the older people would need to be put on the shelf. Time has proven that he was right because that is exactly what happened to them.
I so miss my church. I fear that within the next 5-6 years should Jesus tarry it will be difficult to find old time Pentecost. The church as we know it,
Or should I say as we knew it is almost extinct. We have changed so much and I don’t think most of it is for the good. Much of our so called worship is just a fleshly display of talents and in some instances almost pornographic in nature. We have women leading worship half naked and exposing much of their body, pants so tight they leave nothing to the imagination and dress/skirts that show a lot of flesh that only a husband should see.
We have bands instead of worship and music that drowns the singing out and very rarely sing hums and old songs. We don’t have much preaching anymore we use dramas and dancing that resembles a rock or worldly concert. And may I ask where is the anointed preaching that brings conviction and why is there not much preaching on sin. Where is the interruption in our services of the Holy Ghost. Why are we seeing many Baptist and Methodist churches with more spirit that most Pentecost churches . I’m not anti-Baptist or anti-Methodist with those remarks. We are so programmed that we don’t have room for the Holy Ghost and we don’t have time for prayer and altar services.
The modern church looks like a dim
Light dance hall and feels like a Night club. I may be old fashioned but I ask the question what was wrong with what we had and what we saw 20 years ago. Who made the decision to do something new? Who decided a new age needed a new thing? Can I have my old church back!

Brother Tim Hall, there is nothing one can do. They will never go back. Your only option is to separate yourself from churches described in your posting and start in a different direction. Just remember, God will always have a people who still believe in holiness and the power of the Holy Ghost.
In the old style COG, did you hear a lot of prophesying or interpretation of the tongues? Hearing tongues in church doesn’t seem all that desireable, according to Paul, unless their is interpertation. But we should covet to prophesy. We are to edify one another.
