  1. We have a staffer who insists on using KJV in his Sunday school class. But people in the class don’t mind so I don’t press the issue. I don’t mind someone being KJVO but they can be very divisive. One of my friends has to put up parallel translations on his PowerPoint so as to pacify his KJVO parishioners. He preaches from NIV but the KJV is streaming on the screen.

  2. I went and preached for a church that was looking for a Pastor. I didn’t get the memo that this was K.J.V church. It was going good and they where shouting and having a good time till I went and threw water on there party! I did one of the most terrible thing I could have done in this church and when I did it I know I let the cat out of the bag. I quoted a scripture from Eugene Petersons Message translation! You would have though I would have shot there golden calf. I knew I was not going to be voted in a Pastor after that so I decided to have a little fun. I quoted a couple more sciptures in the Message translation and finished it off by quoting one in N.I.V. I came back to preach the night service and the head Elder had a gift for me when I walked in. One of those stupided K.J.V only c/d. I took it from him looked at it and told him I wouldn’t waist my time listen to stuff like that and handed it back to him and walked away from him. I still have a good augh about that day________________

  3. I had a man tell me he only read and believed that the K.J.V bible was the only way. I was teaching on Wednesday night at this church for a pastor friend on mine and this guy gave me a hard time about K.J.V only a couple times I taught. The next week he came up to me and started to talk about K.J.V I was ready for him. I had brought my 1611 original K.J.V and asked him what his favorite scripture was and when he told me I handed him that bible and told him to find it for me and show it to me. When he opened that bible up his eyes about fell out of his head. That was the last time I heard about K.J.V from him________________

  4. but I also recognize that it has words that are not readily understandable to everyone in the congregation, and that other translations/versions have said it much more understandably. I prefer the KJV because I grew up with it…because I find most of the other versions to seem almost infantile (as if readers are complete morons)…because it gives us a standard for memorization (i.e., if we go with any version when it comes to memorization, folks can’t tell if a child is memorizing or paraphrasing, etc.; not a huge deal, but I do like some standard)…it has the most eloquent take on translation, I believe. However, I am not at all KJV only. That would be as foolish as saying, Nope, only the original epistles, in the original language, will work. Most Muslims, I understand, have to speak the Koran in Islamic (SMILE).

  5. I read the NKJV for devotional. Study out of KJV, niv, nasb and some literal versions like Youngs. My problem is many folks who are KJV only are legalist is other areas, like music, dress etc. Just don’t know if that is a rule with KJV only or just MY experience.

  6. Hey, you boys know they is a companion volume to the King James called the Queen James, don’t ya?www.amazon.com/The-Queen-James-Bible/dp/0615724531/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1453920168&sr=1-1&keywords=queen+james+bible
