I liked Megyn Kelly and enjoyed watching her program. I thought it was some of the best-produced and cutting-edge reporting on television. However, a week prior to the first Republican Debate, she said something on air that revealed how far out of line her personal ego had become. Some of you might remember when she leaned a bit forward, looked directly into the camera and spoke directly to the Presidential candidates who would be in the debate that Fox News was hosting. She said, Don’t make me hurt you. She giggled a little but she meant it.I turned to my wife and said, That girl has decided that she will attempt to destroy one of those people running for office. Her very first question at the debate, was not a question at all but rather accusations against a candidate. In my opinion, it looked like Megyn Kelly had decided that she, the great and exalted Megyn Kelly, instead of letting the viewing audience hear what the candidates planned to do if they were elected President, would bring down a candidate. Her accusations set the direction of the Presidential race on fire. It was weeks before anyone got to hear what the candidates would do if elected. Megyn Kelly had thrown a stink bomb into the Presidential race. And at that moment, Kelly made one of the dumbest mistakes a journalist can make. She inserted herself into the story. When the reporter becomes the story, they have failed to due their job. The news is not about the reporter. The reporter is simply the one who conveys it.Were the accusations this self-absorbed woman made true? I don’t know but the reaction to what she did was so overwhelming, until she, the great Megyn Kelly, had to be off-air for 10 days. She is sharp. She is excellent on camera and seems as comfortable in front of a camera as anyone we’ve seen in years. She is knowledgeable and it seems she studies much to make sure her program is well-paced and interesting. But unless she can reign in her ego and cover the news instead of making it, her audience and thereby her value to Fox will decrease. An overbearing ego looks awful on a man. It looks horrible on a woman. That’s my opinion. What’s yours?Doyl________________
My husband is a white Church of God pastor. When we were in Kansas, he pastored a small church that quickly grew into a multi-racial church. Our church became known as the “Melting Pot” church where everyone was welcome and all could find love. There were racial challenges that we were not use to and we learned so much about other cultures. We had a lot of inter-racial marriages since we had a large university and a military base nearby. The black culture really take care of their pastor. They would meet before service in the pastor’s office and pray over my husband. They made sure he had water. They did not tolerate anyone speaking negative about the pastor. They all were black and they set on the front row. They were faithful and loyal, spiritual, men of God. No, they were not our slaves and they did not look at my husband as God, but they did highly respect “the man of God.” They called themselves “armour bearers” and they called me “First Lady” which I was always uncomfortable with. The Black culture does like titles. Other races in that church did not have a problem with the titles or those who called themselves armour bearers. There was so much unity and Holy Ghost power in the services, that people did not have the time or desire to get wrapped up in all that flesh stuff such as jealousy or racism. I can’t remember how many Sundays exactly in a row that we had someone saved EVERY Sunday. The Sunday before my husband left that church because of (aged sickly parents), he baptized 27 people. God power and Spirit can work where there is UNITY.
excellent comment
Here is an example of an armor bearer. Kenneth Copeland is re-mantling Steve Lowery and Perry Stone is earnestly praying by their side. Perry gets very emotional.
In the second picture Steve Lowery’s armor bearer steps between Steve and Perry to either to protect Steve from Perry or to keep Perry from stealing Steve’s spiritual thunder.
This was taken at North Cleveland COG and the video got into the hands of Steve’s church and is being sold for $10.
Steve Lowery has armorbearers who are always by his side. I would assume it was a practice held by his father as well.
Steve has informed me that his man is an armorbearer. I thought at first he was security but he let me know he wasn’t.
