New Church Political Website?

Acts20.com NEW Acts-Celerate

Looks like Trump and Republicans are going to give churches freedom that they have not had since 1954 with the repeal of the Johnson Amendment.

  1. Most pastors that wanted to be involved in politics did it anyway ‘under the radar’ sometimes blatant. I don’t see it as a change, but of course I was naive enough to think, ‘What is the big deal of keeping lawyers from advertising? So a Republican congress repealed the amendment (or clause what ever it was) that prevented attorneys from advertising. Now they don’t hve to chase ambulances anymore, but use giant bill boards advertising :HAVE YOU BEEN HURT? COME SEE US. WE GOT BILL JONES 2 MILLION DOLLARS!.Now in hind site, I wish the Republicans had left it like it was. That said, I am not smart enough to see what this change could amount to, I tend to judge things like this by ‘my little world’. WE might have The church of the Republican, Come hear the future predicted by the true message in ‘tongues’. 2. I would say it’s probably a good thing if not abused (like many things). Pastors ought to have the right to mention a candidate without losing their non-profit status.I’m not convinced they ought to be excessive in using their rights. I could foresee cases where pastors put a lot of energy into a candidate who doesn’t turn out to uphold Christian values. It was just campaign rhetoric. I guess that happens to some extent regardless though. And I don’t think churches themselves ought to contribute to candidates. Am I wrong? But certainly they should talk about the bibilical morality of societal and political issues and encourage congregants to investigate how those line up with political stances. I want to say I heard Mike Huckabee say no church has ever lost their non profit status under the Johnson amendment. Maybe some one can confirm that.

  3. You stated a truth my friend. When I was a kid, Every Camp Meeting there was a politician or two on the rostrum, to greet the people. In my youth I though our reps and senators were COG. I am sure there were ignorant adults who felt the same. (as I grew older I noticed they made a quick exit after their great greeting________________Some facts but mostly just my [email protected]/

  4. Let me clarify: I meant the repeal is probably a good thing, not necessarily the website. But it’s not what I think is the most urgent need. I should say I’ve only read briefly on the amendment.

  5. Bad OTCP. Good thing you post under assumed name. You surely don’t believe COG sends politicians from Cleveland?
