So I thought I would see what your thoughts are on this subject.Bananas…What is the truth about them?I’ve read articles saying to eat two bananas a day because they were loaded with vitamins and other great things for the body and mind, but my wife told me this morning that bananas were bad for you because they keep fat around the belly and she won’t touch them.
Marcel Ledbetter said not to try one or you would go stone blind.www.youtube.com/watch?v=flaWvHgMjOU
That’s why you should eat a ribeye with that baked potato.
On the other hand, the protein in the peanut butter might be just the thing to offset that spike in blood sugar Da Sheik mentioned.I do like a peanut butter and banana sandwich from time to time.
I thought I remembered seeing a news headline that Danica Patrick liked peanut butter and banana sandwiches, too. In this excerpt of her food diary, you will find some bananas. She has no belly fat, but that’s probably because of her overall diet and workout regimen.ftw.usatoday.com/2015/12/how-to-eat-like-a-nascar-driver-according-to-danica-patrick
I’m fer em. No wait I am again them unless they are covered with Peanut butter________________Recorded Sermons @ http://www.pastorwiley.com
[quote=bonnie knox]I often see ads on the web that have words like foods you should never eat, weird trick to cut belly fat, foods that cause belly fat, etc., etc. Often I see a picture of a banana with some of the captions. I NEVER click on those things.
Re: A Medical Doctor on TV Said…
It is packaged nice, but doesn’t last long.My wife likes one daily, because some ‘expert’ said it was very good for you! ________________Some facts but mostly just my [email protected]/
Unless you have some unusual medical condition, maybe bananas could be bad for you. If you are trying to cut out all carbs and get ‘cut’, bananas probably wouldn’t help much. That’s a ‘first world problem.’ I’m trying not to become a banana snob. When you get one of those small very sweet bananas that have blackening skin but are perfectly ripe on the inside, that ripened on the tree or right after it was picked, it’s hard to fully appreciate the larger bananas commercialized in the US that have been picked green that turned yellow in a refrigerated shipping container on a boat somewhere or hanging in a grocery store. Fresher bananas are sweeter. They look rotten if you are used to the look of bananas that were picked green. There are sweeter varieties than the ones in the US________________
It could lead to dancing, drinking beer, and ordination of women. ________________
I find this debate offensive, divisive, derisive…And I want to say:Yes we have no bananas, we have no bananas today!!!!
No one has even mentioned that bananas are high in potassium. And it’s a fruit…that’s supposed to be good for you, right? And the best way to eat one is Southern style, between two slices of white bread with real mayonnaise (Kraft), not salad dressing that pretends to be mayonnaise. Peanut butter? Uggghhhh________________More of Him…less of me.twitter.com/camiracle77www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=691241499&ref=name
Well, I started to go there. (You’ll never know how many places I start to go then delete my words.) I have always heard bananas are high in potassium and I’ve said many times myself, Have a banana; it’s a good source of potassium. I started to write that my neighbor’s doctor had told him to eat a banana every day. (My neighbor has type I diabetes and high blood pressure. Potassium is important to balance sodium in regulating blood pressure.) I didn’t want to post that right after Da Sheik had said bananas can spike your blood sugar lest I sound unnecessarily divisive, lol.I had looked up banana nutrition on Wikipedia which tried to downplay the potassium by mentioning foods that were better sources. I say 8% to 10% is still significant (especially when they were comparing it to herbs which you are not going to eat a large quantity of anyway). This article put it in a good perspective, I thought.www.healthaliciousness.com/articles/food-sources-of-potassium.phpI remember once (quite a few years ago when I was more nimble and not as heavy) I was helping put shingles on our shed. It was some kind of hot and I felt wiped out. Some fetched a banana for me, and I was able to finish my chore. I still remember the boost that banana gave me.In one of my son’s kids’ magazines, I remember reading that a large percentage of banana was water (which seems surprising to me) and that if you are thirsty, you can eat a banana. My guess is that if you are thirsty from exerting yourself, the minerals in the banana are what help restore you. Anyway, I decided that belly fat or not, I was going to have a banana with my breakfast this morning. It was a terribly healthy breakfast, which I plan to balance out with some junk later on. Oatmeal, whole milk plain Greek yogurt, frozen blueberries, and a banana.
Oh, and, Carolyn, you are really trying to troll us when you say Kraft mayo. I suspect there will be some Duke mayo proponents who will take issue with you.
On the same sandwich?! Or at different times?
