In my view, it is a huge mistake to assume that the command to love one’s neighbor as oneself implies selflishness. To say that it does would indict the God who gave the command as promoting selfishness. What the command to love one’s neighbor as oneself implies is that we NOT be selfish and that we consider others as equally valuable and important in the kingdom of God.
