If We Believe And Live By Wrong Interpretation of Scripture

Acts20.com NEW Acts-Celerate

There are many denominations in the world that hang their hats on a particular interpertation of scriptures. Even here on Acts we have many that are COG that disagree on scripture. Some are die hard Word of Faith and some here have little faith. Some believe this and others that.

  1. Interesting topic. I read a Catholic post a few days ago that asked a similar question about Protestants. If protestants claim to believe in Jesus, yet give their money to a denomination that condones abortion-causing birth-control pills, are they guilty of the practice of murder? I thought it was a very good question.

  2. We can wrestle with this thought for ever BUT will never know until the judgement.Having said that, my faith is in Jesus. The scripture says / or in most interpretations I have read, that HE know the thoughts and intentions of our heart. My entire faith rests on that.I Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ. Crucified, buried and raised from the dead. My heart’s intent is to please Him, because I love Him. In one place he is the Good Father and knows his Children. Believing that, I pray he will know I love Him and will over look any ‘ignorant’ ideas I have or believe. But that is me. BUT that is also the HINGE of my faith, that HE knows. ________________Some facts but mostly just my [email protected]/

  3. Uncle JD stated: To the topic, I think it would depend on whether the error in interpretation conflicted with heaven/hell issues, not just certain aspects of doctrine. i.e. the deity of Christ, grace, faith, etc.. as opposed to things like ordination of women, consumption of alcohol, etc…You mentioned heaven/hell issues of grace and faith. Some here would think that those issues would not be heaven/hell issues. Some here would also think that consumption of alcohol would be a heaven/hell issue. Are Baptists going to hell just because they believe OSAS? They may have wrongs views concerning the scripture but I don’t think they will go to hell for wrong views if they are living in the light shining on their path.

  4. This is why doctrine MUST be based on crystal clear, unmistakable scriptural proof. Because if it is, then no one can honestly misinterpret it.For instance, there is absolutely no room for maneuver when it comes to the scriptural claim that there is ONE GOD, that Jesus is the Only Begotten Son of the One God, that Jesus died for our sins, etc.On OSAS, initial evidence, etc., there might be honest disagreement. That is why I don’t believe these have any ultimate effect on where you spend eternity. For instance, a person who is truly saved will not use belief in OSAS to excuse themselves for living a life of active, practiced sin. An Arminian is not going to go to hell because, 10 seconds before a train ran him over, he had a bad thought.
