Uncle JD…some thoughts about being "born" gay….

Acts20.com NEW Acts-Celerate

It may be that no one is born gay, but that in some way they are unaware of, were influenced in that direction. Were you born straight? I assume I was, since that is all I have known for my whole life. There was certainly no moment when I made the conscious decision to be straight. So why do you think that someone who is gay would choose to be gay?Could it be that they WANT to be alienated and mistreated, perhaps disowned, by their family?Could it be that they WANT to risk a lifestyle that brings with it one of the most dreaded diseases on earth?Could it be that they want to be called names and beat up by those who don’t feel as they do?Here’s the deal, JD…. There are plenty of babies that are born defective. Deformities, disease, defects, etc. So it’s not like everyone is born perfect and entire, wanting nothing. It’s not like no baby is ever born that is not terribly messed up. So why do we think that a child cannot have some wiring that causes them to be born NOT as gay, but perhaps more susceptible to it?But even if you don’t agree with that, surely you will agree that some children–not all–can be exposed to abuse or other dynamics that cause them to feel a certain way toward the same sex. They may not even know or remember what the trigger was. There may not even be a trigger, but rather an extended time in which certain feelings were formed. For instance, what if they deeply felt the absence of their father’s love? Is it so hard to believe that might cause them to be search for male affection in the wrong way?I have a THEORY…. There are men and women who are locked in to being straight. And there are men and women locked in to being gay. But between these two poles, there is a continuum in which SOME people might lean more one way than the other, but still might lean the other way sometimes.I had a friend that I never suspected of being gay. Yes, he was not an athlete, but he seemed normal. He even liked several girls that I knew of. But apparently one night him and another guy crossed the line…and instead of saying, Lord, I was wrong, forgive me, etc., he just decided to embrace being gay. That is, I think he could easily have been straight–especially if the right girl came along. But the devil snared him…and then battered him into believing that that was just the way he was. What a shame. Probably one of the best piano players I’ve known.

  1. I did not purposely not read what you had written. I think I read something you wrote early on in a thread and was addressing you based on that.If a baby is born a crack baby is it still a sin if the child grow up continuing on drugs? We suppose that a child cannot be born gay, and we do that because it bothers our theology to think that it may be innate? But consider that the rest of us were born straight (at least I was), yet we are still responsible for our actions. Fornication is still fornication, regardless of how you were born.

  2. Gay sexShould Christians label it a gross sin – and tell them to get saved? or Should we compassionately tell them they are doing something that isn’t natural – and we are going to help them stop – much like we would a person who continually cut themselves or something else we still consider a psychological disorder?or Should we agree that since it appears some are born that way (they’ve always acted gay) God made them that way – and help them become the best Christians they can be – and the Bible ought to be interpreted in light of these new enlightenments we have received in this century?or tell folks its ok to be you – he loves you just the way you are – is the gospel of Christ. Any Christians with a negative take on your sin – is just a Pharisee…which is the only sin that Jesus really hated.I’m just not getting why God ever brought up the sin problem – since we just reason it all away anymore…except the Pharisee. Those guys are still bad________________
