Does your church have a security plan in place to take out someone who enters to do harm to your parishioners?
I am not the pastor at our home church, but I understand that we have 6-8 concealed carry men who alternate duty. I know that once service starts they lock the main entrance door and stand by to unlock to allow late comers in.This is still an iffy thing, and a tough judgement call because if the late comer seems to be a respectable visitor, you would not want to turn them away. But unless metal detectors are installed what would keep the visitor from walking in with a weapon concealed before service? When thinking of this type of menace, it is hard to defend BEFORE the fact and a terrible to start a fire fight in church, but some answer is better than none.I am amazed that no one in the congregation in Texas could not return some fire. it is all sad and too hard to think about! ________________Some facts but mostly just my [email protected]/

My daughter attends a PH church where the county sherriff also attends. It’s my understanding that they have an organized team that protects the property during service. A lot of people carry here in ENC, and I’m sure they do in TX, also, so it is surprising this unfolded the way it did.My pastor’s dad conceal carries and regularly checks the property and is usually by the front door or entrance into the sanctuary during church. I wasn’t even aware of this until I mentioned church security to the pastor in conversation.Cojak – Isn’t it against the law to have the front door of a public building locked while people are there? Seems like that would be dangerous in case of a fire or even in a shooting situation where the shooter was already there…I think it is something all pastors need to think through and address in these days and times________________More of Him…less of me.twitter.com/camiracle77www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=691241499&ref=name
I don’t know the answer, I hope I am never faced with the situation.I do know that you will never keep guns out of the hands of crazy people or evil people, no matter how many gun laws you have. They will find a way and especially if they are willing to die to accomplish their mission.
Armed guard at the door—-the only thing to stop it.Concealed carry can stop the carnage early – but only an armed guard can prevent it…and he would probably be taken out first – because you know he won’t be on top alert most of the time________________
Sorry, double posted
I am sure you are right, but the public building codes require a certain # of panic bars that open from the inside only. Ours is a newer building (<15yrs) and has the panic bars. many of our churches are old, so yes that would be a problem in that case.I honestly do not see how the START of a shooting could be prevented, too many variables, but it would be good to have some way to reduce the carnage. ________________Some facts but mostly just my [email protected]/
I fear and pray that it will not happen, but I dread to hear of a ‘shootout’ in church. I realize it is only a building, but so many of us have considered the church a safe haven, a secure place where one could run for comfort, almost sacred. ________________Some facts but mostly just my [email protected]/
