I’m not doubting what you say, just wondering if that’s always been the case?A former pastor of mine left the COG to become Jentezen’s associate pastor back in the early nineties and the state overseer took his credentials for it.As you say, doesn’t matter to me either way________________“Hell will be filled with people that didn’t cuss, didn’t drink, and may even have been baptized. When JF came back into the CoG (I think it was 2006) to take over as pastor the CoG in Irvine, CA (now Free Chapel Orange County) he also remained as pastor of Free Chapel in Gainesville, GA. Free Chapel in GA is not a CoG congregation, while Free Chapel in CA is at least last time I checked.
I think the story about Jentezen Franklin goes that when he went to Free Chapel in GA, he turned in his COG credentials. But when he was selected to pastor Free Chapel in CA, it was said whoever took his credentials did not deactivate them. So it’s an unusual situation that riled a lot of folks, but JF was born and raised in the COG, and apparently special allowances were made. It doesn’t bother me, either, but I don’t have a dog in this fight. My husband was a Children’s Pastor at PTL back in the day while he held credentials with the COG. He was advised to report as an evangelist during that time period, and he never had a problem. I don’t remember who told him to do that, if it was the advice of another minister or someone official.
