The CofG has gotten so modern that we are getting away from what got us this far to begin with.. When my back is against the wall and i’m facing a devil, I want to hear an hymn that has power and not a chorus that has no real message. I’m old school and I still believe in choir singing and nothing wrong with dressing our best to go to the Lord’s house. Let fashion change and some preachers will look the same as the fashion world dictates, followers instead of leaders.
I agree with one clarification,
I want a song that gives scripture, that fits the situation of where I am, what I am facing, and the very thing I need at that time.
Some of the old songs fit that.
Some of the new songs fit that.
Some of the old songs miss it and are not Biblically accurate.
Some of the new songs miss it as well.
Point being,
Give me Scripture set to melody.
I don’t care when it was written or the “age” of the song.
THE POWER is in THE ONE that the song is about.

Is God really moving?
I would like to track those touched under these movements and see where they are and what they are doing 12 months later.
Oh yeah! Especially the good ole choir singing! Always feel special sentiments about those CoG “red book” edition of Hymns! A lot of other denomination have used them thru the years!
I agree Dorcas, I love the old way of worship and singing from the red back hymnal.
So our God can only move with the songs of the red back hymnal?
A look at the songs in the 5 books of Psalms says God can use them all.
Not to mention the charge given to the New Testament church,
“Ephesians 5:18-21

Amen brother that would preach my bible tells me to come out from among them and be ye separate not many preach sanctification any more this may be the 20th century but God says he is the same yesterday /today /and forever .
