Can this long-haired, moderate wine drinker be sanctified?
What do you think? If the fellow in this picture still has long hair and regularly drinks a bit of wine and ale in moderation, could he be sanctified without cutting the hair or cutting out the drinking of wine?
His turtle-neck covers a lot of skin. That’s a plus. Seriously, though, can a man who drinks wine, moderately, and has hair this long continue to be like that and be sanctified?

We could have a serious discussion on this. Many in the Holiness movement considered any wine consumption to be sinful, but the father of Holiness doctrine on sanctification did drink wine moderately, though he was very much against consuming distilled beverages.
Some Holiness folk consider long hair on men to be sinful, but Wesley’s hair was as long as some of the men they’d consider unholy because of the length of their hair.
Btw, if not drinking wine makes some Holiness people think they are holy, do they think they are holier than Jesus and his wine drinking apostles?
I dont drink wine or cafffeine drinks… since i consider that all fermentation (alcohol) or bad susbstances can damage your body which is God’s temple.
I’d like to hear from some other ‘COG traditionalists’, like Melvin Harter and others, on whether they think a man who drank a little wine every day and had shoulder-length hair could be sanctified?
It is worth noting that while the COG considers itself Weslyean, I’ve known hardly any COG ministers who actually have read Wesley or look to him as a source of theological truth. They don’t typically identify with anything before 1896.
All this stumbling around personal beliefs.
To one it is not sin. To another it is.
To one it is a weight (Heb 12:1), to another it is not.
Drunkenness is point blank a sin and wrong, that my brethren is fact.
Not using alcohol (totally) was more of a western culture issue.
(I say this even though my family has lost 2 family members due to alcohol and intoxicated driving. One of my family members ran a stop sign killing two other people due to alcohol and injuring two others. Many cousins and family members on both sides of the family have been in alcohol addiction – that is why I am a T-totaler).
Yet in all of that I can not say the all alcohol use is a sin. I also can’t say that it is not,, depending on the person. I can say drunkenness is.
I have a family member that got saved and tried to tell me that they could still drink.
I politely pointed out that while they were a sinner their two major vices were getting drunk and having pre-marital sex. I then pointed out we are to Flee youthful lusts.
So I believe that the issue is deeper than the liquid which is within the drinking vessel itself.
My doctor suggested I drink some for acid reflux. I am from the old school. You didn’t drink or be anywhere doing something bad when the rapture takes place or you don’t go to heaven. I have grown up with all these no no’s. I do cut my hair wear light make up and slacks. And I feel saved sanctified and have the Holy Ghost living inside me.
I have not drank any yet.
Some translate “long hair” to also mean “styled as a woman” or wearing a woman’s hair style, not just the length.
I will not point out that Paul said, “nature itself teaches us this”, yet a lion has more hair than the lioness (just my thought and personal observation).
The CoG to my knowledge never taught against cutting of a woman’s hair but specifically the “bobbing” of a woman’s hair.

I was given a copy of the1962 minutes that said, “if a women kept cutting her hair (bobbing it) that after 2 or 3 admonishments she would be dealt with and removed from membership”.
Does this fellow’s hair need to be bobbed?
Are you sanctified if you don’t drink a little wine for your stomach’s sake?
