So…there’s something wrong with me if I think most CoG women look “Jezebel-like” Should I keep that to myself and not say anything? Wade Horton, what should I do?

  1. Charles Page I preached for a COG pastor in FL who told his wife,”Sis ? wears so much makeup she looks like a rodeo clown and sometimes you look like Sis ?” I laughed and laughed.

  2. A historical look at Jezebel shows her issue was not the makeup or even dress, but her attitude, willful defiance of God, controlling spirit bent on evil, and her depraved sexual orgies in the palace while the king was out patrolling the kingdom.

Her manner of dress and makeup was the least God was against concerning her.

  3. I attended the Camp Meeting service in Indiana this past Friday night and noticed that the only ladies in the crowd that were not wearing blue jeans were the older pastor’s wives. Some of the men wore shorts. No big deal to me but just noted how much the COG had changed in attire and in worship style. The preaching and singing were good but staged. Lots of pomp and circumstance.

  4. Charles, I have been thinking about your interest and concern for christian fashion, The culture has changed so much since we were young, also what people wear often has to do with their finances. I do believe in appropriate dress, for men and women with the goal of projecting an intelligent and savvy person. Certainly we should dress in such a way that it does not detract from our message but there’s a lot to be learned and it seems to be one of those subjects that needs to be approached indirectly. Just as we wouldn’t tell someone that their breath smelled bad or that their car needed to be washed. it takes much wisdom to say the unsayable.

  5. Jim, you are somewhat like Peter Vanderver you don’t have a clue what I think.

Is this the same pastor who went to visit homes to see how the members were living???

  6. I just have a question
What is the actual practical difference in bobbed hair and the old PHD Pentecostal Hair Do, bee hive, double and triple layer so tight to the head that their hair appears short, and their ears are visible?

  7. At the end of a revival service (I can say that now that Peter is gone) my first revival a lady came up to me to ask for prayer for her strayed son. Immediately the Spirit checked me and I told her it was not her son that needed prayer but it was her.

The pastor was back on the platform stacking folding chairs and I heard a whole row of folding chairs fall over. I laid my hands on her head through a big bee hive and prayed for her.

The pastor met me at the back door and i thought I was in trouble. He was so elated and said to me, “you have no idea what you just did. That lady is the original owner of this church and she thinks she still controls it!!”
