If I were a CoG State Administrator (State Overseer) today and wanted to start new churches, I would hire several full-time anointed evangelists, who could play the piano, sing lively songs and I would start having them conduct church revivals. I would first revive the saints. Following this, I would erect gospel tents and have outstanding revivals in every city that I wanted to plant a CoG. In the words of one great evangelist, “IT’S THE ANOINTING THAT MAKES THE DIFFERENCE.”
Revive the saints….amen brother.
Peter, where do you get your info? I don’t believe you were even a member of the CoG, let alone a CoG minister. I know many full-time evangelists today in the CoG. Southern Gospel? There is but one gospel that we preach that reaches all age groups. You can forget about your modern professional teams. They are not the answer to having Holy Ghost revivals.
Jesus sent out the followers in teams of two and Paul and the other disciples normally travelled in small teams and turned the world upside down. No pianos or musicians, just the preaching of the gospel with signs following. They normally carried no money and Paul was a tentmaker so that he would not burden the people that he was trying to reach. The most effective models of discipline people today use groups of three or so. No church buildings if you want to reach people today.
Melvin Harter, I thought I saw where u started a new church???
That is exactly the way my hometown CoG was started in June 20, 1914. T. S. Payne brought a tent to Warren County and preached for three months in three locations and two churches were started. Campaign Church of God first and then McMinnville.
2 Chronicles 7:14 is what brings revival. No man can do it.
Peter A Vandever, I am sorry but we have a different view of revival than the ones you have mentioned.
If you want to see a revival, encourage people to pray together on a regular basis. I read that before the second great awakening broke out, churches of different denominations had people meet together and pray, and this went on for quite a while. I also so on a very small scale how that can happen in one local church. A tiny group of young people would meet and pray on Friday night, and eventually it started to grow as young people started repenting and getting saved.
Revival is breaking out in different areas. There’s one in SC & Kentucky that we know about. Started in the young people in school.
I like songs like Hold to Gods unchanging hands Amazing Grace , great songs like , The Blood Will Never Lose Its Power , How Great Thou Art. , I could keep naming them.
I am an Alabama person. Bro Culpepper is our State Bishop. And a very good one.
