I started attending the CoG in about 1958. My wife and I started at Lee in 1969. I was ordained in 1978. I personally knew many great and wonderful men of God, most who have gone onto their reward. However, those who became a part of the CoG during past 20+ years or so have very little understanding of the CoG. I cherish the years of my early years in the CoG and the wonderful experiences it afforded me.

  1. I have been in the COG since birth but I am only 17. I hope to grow in the COG and have a heritage to pass down to my children if the Lord doesn’t come back before then

  2. It has changed in the past 20-25 years. 5th generation COG. I went to Lee in 1976. Several family members also went to Lee. My gg grandmother and g grandmother joined during a tent revival J. W Buchalew and A. J. Tomlinson conducted in Alabama City and Gadsden, AL around 1910. My grandfather Terry F. Pike organized and pastored a bunch of small COG churches in Alabama and Florida for 50 years.

  3. We cannot help our entrance into the COG, I am first generation COG myself came in the church of God in 1991, was not saved until 1986, baptized in the Holy Ghost in 1987.

I was born in Mississippi in 1961, so to say I am not a youngster anymore being 55 now. Hopefully I am raising the 2nd generation of the church of God in my daughter. I only have one child.

But saying that I came up under great some great pastor’s and men of God. I pray for my church everyday, I ask God to lead her in the right Way’s and to keep the fires of Pentecost burning.

  4. I thank God for the time I had in the CoG. It was a great blessing to me as I hope I was to the many CoGs that I preached in. However, I felt my final decision to resign from the CoG (Cleveland, TN) was confirmed at the 1986 G.A. when they changed (deleted) the CoG Practical Teachings.
