About 1772, John Adams wrote Thomas Jefferson with ideas about forming the new government. One of the questions he asked T J was, ” what can we do for the happiness of the people.”
This would be a good question for those who are planning the general assembly. What can be done to show appreciation to those who have supported and made the CoG possible?

  1. Under Missions and Visions, 6 Care, we find this statement; ” We commit ourselves to the challenge of being a church that genuinely cares for one another.” This takes a great deal of micro managing but I think that it is a vision that we all should help come to pass.

  2. I agree with Pat. PLEASE GOD! because the people that are being pleased are the wrong ones. The church should focus on the widows, retired ministers, ophans; instead of flying 1st Class Delta and bragging about how many churches they’ve started.
Put that on the floor of the G.A. in 2016.

  3. There is something in our culture and history that says we are to ” skin-hides”, that’s what my home church preachers did, they thought it was their duty to give us a good thrashing, to tell us what a sorry lot we were and they did it in the name of God. Yet in the gospels we read that the common folk heard him gladly, He gave them dignity and made them feel like somebody, told them that they were so special that He would hear them when they prayed and do for them what they asked. But here we are in 2016 and still want and expect to be dangled over the flames and to escape only by the skin-of-our-teeth!
