There is a legal argument that Texas came into the union with legal pre-approval to split into different states. For the sake of the country, they could do that to change the number of electors and the balance of the house going forward, drawing borders around liberal cities with a bit of a buffer zone. Texas probably has more state pride and state identity than any state, except maybe Hawaii, so I’m not sure if they’d go for it.
A little antimajoritarianism can be a good balancer, but legitimate government occurs only with the consent of the governed. It is probably not wise to attempt to manipulate the sytem so that a popular majority never receives political power.
Of course it ain’t gonna happen, but if it does you could ‘Waltz Across Texas’ in half the time!You hear a lot now days about who wields the biggest stick. Most folks know that California and New York does. But majorities seem to change back and forth over the years.Many people believe in what they call a deep state. It is possible. But I think it is some folks working to sink a ship they do not like. I am not sure it is an organization. BUT all in all if the ‘deep state’ exists it stayed ‘out of sight.’Imma fraid Mr trump will lead not a deep state but an apparent ‘anti state’. If he does it will be a long long time before any administration is lead by a Republican. I would like to see him be a statesman and live on his money and let the party rebuild, if it ever can.
