Halloween….. So your opinion

Acts20.com NEW Acts-Celerate

Growing up I cannot remember a big deal made of the time. I made a costume and had a great time. I never gave a thought as a kid of it having anything to do with religious beliefs. At present still have no qualms about kids dressing up and trick or treating. But that is me.NOW I do have a BIG problem during a time that money is tight and inflation hurting everyone of Christians spending TOO much money on extreme yard decor, etc. Opinions________________Some facts but mostly just my [email protected]/

  1. In matters like these (Halloween), if it’s a simple matter of going out and collecting candy, I don’t see the problem. I see the connection between trick or treat and devil worship as a stretch, to put it mildly. Ringing a doorbell dressed up as Spiderman and saying “trick or treat” is a far cry from satanic worship. In my opinion there are a lot more serious issues in the church that need addressed before tackling the ‘unholy’ practice of begging for candy. Of course, there is no shortage of church folks who think there is a devil behind every door________________“Hell will be filled with people that didn’t cuss, didn’t drink, and may even have been baptized. Why? Because none of those things makes someone a Christian.”

  2. I’ve heard all of kinds of rants from believers about opening doors for satan and how its a win for the devil, when Christians celebrate Halloween.I don’t get that line of thinking at all.I grew up dressing up and trick or treating, dressing up, the whole bit. And somehow, didn’t grow up to be a cult member, devil worshipper, etc.It wasn’t until I became a pastor, that I encountered people who wanted the church ignore Halloween. In my opinion, that’s just not realistic. Pretending like Halloween isn’t going on doesn’t really accomplish anything.People want to do something, so we try to provide an activity that is safe and fun.Nothing wrong with that________________

  3. I remember as a kid/teen that we would have Halloween events in church that included haunted houses. At this point I think that was too much… especially in the church facilities. I deal with people today that act like doing anything at all anywhere around Halloween exposes you to demonic possession, and honors pagan beliefs. I also think that is too much.
