Hi folks,Thanks to those who prayed for me about getting a job. I'd interviewed for jobs in two overseas country. I thought for sure I'd be working in the one country, the one with a very, very large population that isn't too friendly to religion. But they really dragged their feet with getting the actual written offer or contract to me, even though they flew me over there for an interview. It seemed like things were pointing in that direction in terms of answered prayer. But there is this other country we used to live in where we'd be close to my wife's folks. I'll not give too many details in case security becomes a concern. Anyway, when I left here, there weren't a lot of really decent jobs in academia, but since I left, a billionaire opened up a school here that pays a reasonable US wage with an 'expat package' for housing and other benefits. I'd appreciate prayer in working out what we are going to do with most of our kids who do not have a school available. Traffic and distance makes going to a English-speaking Christian school difficult. We are considering homschooling, hiring tutors, online school, etc., and we have money from my employer for it.There is also supposed to be some kind of car and driver assigned to me that hasn't totally been set up yet. The thing is, it is just so hard to get anywhere, we need either a vehicle (so we can sit in this traffic which is probably between 10 and 100 times worse than anything in the US), or some kind of car and driver situation. There is actually a super market about 400 meters away, but I went there on foot one night and it was pretty dangerous. The side walk consists of uneven concrete plates over the drainage ditch, and in places, with the narrow place to walk, vendor carts, and trees in the way, I had to step in the street. Cars pay little attention to the lanes drawn on the road here, if there are any on a particular road. There can be three lanes drawn and four or five actual lanes. You turn by pulling out in front of someone, getting your bumper in front of someone elses. There are motorcycles everywhere weaving between cars and between cars and the curb. Motorcycles cut right in front of cars to get in. If you signal around here, the guy next to you pulls up so you can't pass, so if you signal, you do it right when you turn. Police stand at red lights to make sure people observe them. We live near one of the busiest intersections and the policeman there last night seemed to have given up. With a family our size, it is hard to fit into a taxi and minivan taxis are rare. We did it once in a sedan, though, with a couple of kids on a couple of laps and household items and groceries we'd bought on the floor. I've got a preaching engagement lined up next month. So I'd appreciate prayer for that, and that I'll be a good witness to the students at my work.We are thankful to God for the job, for the apartment with pool and fitness center, an organization that helps take care of me, some access to a car and driver, and everything else. I'd known expats with these types of expat jobs where they provided these sorts of things before, and it is a blessing to have these kinds of benefits. It sure is good after all those years of grad school, struggling at food vending to scrape by, trusting God for the next months rent, lack of sleep, and all the other difficulties. The first month's pay is not here yet, but the organization sent a driver to get us to the bank, and when they heard the name of the organization, they let my wife and I in and let us open an account even though they'd closed at 3 for the religious observances going on. I appreciate your prayers
