I went to a church once where things seemed to start off pretty good. The pastor was a good teacher. But then, he started preaching about a lot of psychology. He said he was going to counseling himself. He had this sermon about making vows to your self like, I'll never be like my dad or whatever, and how this can effect your life later on. And he had everyone repeat a prayer where they were supposed to say they broke every vow. As I recalll, I did not repeat that.I thought, man, that's messed up. Praying a prayer saying you break your vows. He meant it in some other way, and those thoughts like, I never want to be a preacher when I grow up aren't really 'vows' anyway. But that sure did sound messed up.I believe I told him that we are supposed to keep our vows if they are real vows. And I don't see how it had much of anything to do with what the Bible teaches. It's like he took some really specific issue in his own life that he'd uncovered during a counseling session and tried to apply it to every else

Heb 12:5And ye have forgotten the exhortation which speaketh unto you as unto children, My son, despise not thou the chastening of the Lord, nor faint when thou art rebuked of him:6For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth.7If ye endure chastening, God dealeth with you as with sons; for what son is he whom the father chasteneth not?

I am the son of a bastard (illegitimate) male child.Yep my dad grew up dirt poor also.During a time when the stigma of such a condition was very real.It affected him his whole life.He never got over it. I remember when my Grandmother told my sister who our biological grandfather was.I forgot his name Charles A. HutchinsSenior Pastor SPWCCongregational Church of Godwww.spwc.church

If God put a 'curse' on bastards... and I don't call it that... who is some Charismatic pr Pentecostal to break one of God's curses. Why would one think he could undo something God spoke by yelling at it or decreeing something? He that is under a law is under a curse. Why be under the law? Be saved by grace through faith in Jesus Christ
