I kinda hate the idea that you are EITHER a leader OR a manager. One of my favorite bloggers is Eric Geiger. He is one of the VP of Lifeway Publishing, was formerly an executive pastor at a large church right up the road form Life Pointe, and wrote the book Simple Church along with some others at this point. To fulfill his roll as an XP and as a VP at Lifeway, he MUST be a good manager. It would be impossible for him to succeed in those roles without great management acumen. However, Ed Stetzer - who has worked with Eric extensively - stated that Eric Geiger is the best LEADER he's ever known. Ed Stetzer is broadly revered by church planters and entrepreneurial types, and has the opinion that a great manager is the best leader he knows.
