After the debacle of Obamacare my support went mentally to the UK CAnadian plan. Surely it could not be more costly or more confusing!!!I'm fine with the health care of 15 years ago, if 'controls' were placed on Hospitals, doctors and pharmaceuticals. That is probably not correctly stated, but we need some controls on the price of a pill going from $13 to $1500 over night. A pill that is 65 years old.I realize after public opinion kicked in the particular incident above was corrected to a 'lower figure', I never did see the lower figure. BUT we cannot scrutinize the changing price of every pill in public opinion one by one. WE have regulated 'specifics' in the past until the cost became reasonable, I think it is time again. The thought hurts me, but I don't see any other way. Some facts but mostly just my [email protected]://shipslog-jack.blogspot.com/ |

Out-of-control health care costs just have not been addressed. I do not have insurance. I went to the doctor for a Pap smear in January (first one in about 20 years). I got a bill from the lab for $375. That was just the lab bill, not the bill for the doctor's office. I asked for a self-pay discount and it was reduced to $300. Lab work for a Pap smear costing $300?!! Surely, there is a cheaper way to do this.I was going to sign up for the Affordable Care Act. I went through the process, plugging in numbers for my son and myself. For the two of us, it was going to cost a couple of hundred a month and the deductible for me was going to be $5000. I didn't think we could do that. I could have gone back and plugged in numbers just for insurance for myself, but my brain was fried. Anyway, when I tried to sign up (the last possible day for 2015 coverage), I hit that computer glitch. I called over the phone, got my call dropped, tried again. After giving all the figures to the phone rep, she explained that she was getting the same error message as I had gotten and to try back later. (Of course, they extended the deadline because of the computer glitch, but at that point, my patience was expended, and I said, Forget it.) |

About time - I hope somewhere in there he cuts spending. Conservative Reps haven't done that since Clinton was in office |

The hedge fund people he wants to tax are mostly Democrats who avoid paying taxes while demanding hard working small business owners pay more. So I have no problem with that plan |

It would be good if someone would come up with a SIMPLE UNDERSTANDABLE alternative to Obamacare. Logically there is no way to 'SCRAP IT' with our government and the built in RULES of Obamacare itself. It is easy for a candidate to say I will do away with it, but that is easier said than done. There WAS a simple alternative, even suggested in a Bill by a democrat (I forget who). If you are trying to insure the poor, just raise the medicaid limit.I notice our 'few' medicare bills'. DR, charges $375, Medicare pays $150 and Dr. says okay. Medicare says 'You may be billed $135', but we never are. That tells me the bill should have been no more than $135 in the beginning. Yes, as much as I dislike regulations on a business or industry, we need it until it levels out. Some facts but mostly just my [email protected]://shipslog-jack.blogspot.com/ |

And it goes without saying that insurance companies should be able to price their services as they wish, select which procedures they want to cover and which they don't, and sell them based on the risk presented by consumers. I don't know what on earth our current system is, but it sure as anything is not insurance. |

I have heard Trump say he is for letting companies compete across state lines. his tax plan is a step in the right direction. For a complete elimination of income tax the states will have to step in |
