In European countries this coming Sunday (Oct 18th) is recognized as Anti-Human Trafficking Day. Churches all over Europe will be praying for the victims of trafficking and for those who are seeking to overturn this wicked trade (more people are living in slavery worldwide today than were enslaved during the entire North Atlantic Slave Trade). You may not be aware of this, but an anti-trafficking campaign by born-again believers in London in 1885 is the reason why today, in most civilized countries (including the US) it is illegal for adults to engage in sexual activity with 14 and 15-year-old children. The campaign caused a national scandal, sent the first tabloid newspaper editor to prison, and inspired the movie 'My Fair Lady'. I've blogged about this little-known episode in Church History here: https://eaiseanchai.wordpress.com/2015/10/16/when-the-church-triumphed-over-the-people-traffickers/Maybe those pastors who visit this forum would consider taking time this Sunday to pray about human trafficking Senior Pastor, Solid Rock Church, DroghedaNational Overseer, Church of God, IrelandExecutive Director, Evangelical Alliance Irelandhttp://eaiseanchai.wordpress.com/ |
