Post subject:  bonnie knox: Question about format on local church financial statement

Under what category is it best to place the ToT on the local church financial statement? Our recent statement has is located under Missions Expenditures. I would like to suggest we put it in another category to more accurately reflect what the ToT is allocated for.

It's been over 50 years since I was involved in church finances, but Missions Expenditures seems a strange place for it, but I reckon it could be interpreted that way.. Evidently no one on the forum knows for sure where it goes!!!!!!I know the OTCP says they pay TOT and on time, you'd figger he knows. Some facts but mostly just my [email protected]/

We have a congregation that runs about 150 on Sunday morning. Typically, we have just a small handful of people who attend the financial meetings. I say that to say most people don't know the specifics of the finances and apparently are not concerned about them. Our congregation is very generous and very trusting (or just blissfully ignorant?), generally speaking. The financial statement does indeed specify that 5% is going to Cleveland and 5% is going to the state office. However, I'm not going to suggest that is moved to another category besides missions unless I can be specific about what percentage does and does not go to missions. Otherwise, the response might be, Well part of it goes to missions, so we'll leave it in the category it's in.
