We have a lady in our church who lost her mother almost 10 years ago. She prayed a prayer asking God to heal her...well, her mother died and since then she has held this grudge against God and often challenges me or others when we preach/teach/talk about faith. Here are the scripture verses from her latest email. She said, I take God at His Word but these are not true:Is anyone among you sick? Let them call the elders of the church to pray over them and anoint them with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise them up. If they have sinned, they will be forgiven.--James5:14,15Stretch out your hand to heal and perform signs and wonders through the name of your holy servant Jesus.”--Acts 4:30“Truly I tell you, if anyone says to this mountain, ‘Go, throw yourself into the sea,’ and does not doubt in their heart but believes that what they say will happen, it will be done for them. Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.--Mark 11:23,24If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer.”--Matt. 21:22“So I say to you: Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.--Luke 11:9,10If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you.--John 15:7And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it.--John 14:13,14You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you so that you might go and bear fruit—fruit that will last—and so that whatever you ask in my name the Father will give you.--John 15:16In that day you will no longer ask me anything. Very truly I tell you, my Father will give you whatever you ask in my name. Until now you have not asked for anything in my name. Ask and you will receive, and your joy will be complete.--John 16:23,24and receive from him anything we ask, because we keep his commands and do what pleases him.--1 John 3:22This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. And if we know that he hears us—whatever we ask—we know that we have what we asked of him.--1 John 5:14,15
