I am looking to do a little traveling this summer and would like to visit a few old fashioned camp meetings. They don't necessarily need to be Church of God, but could be Pentecostal, Holiness, or similar. I want to attend camp meetings as they were 50 years ago. Please let me know any information you may have on where I could find some good ones. Thanks!

I am not positive, but Little Washington, NC has a Campmeeting that has been there for at least 80 years. Called Snowed Branch.Of course it has been a long time since I was there, 1948 I think. But from what I hear it hasn't changed much. The congregational Holiness has a CAmp Meeting, GReat folk, near Rutherfordton, NC at Shingle Hollow. I doubt it has changed much since I was there last in 1963.I am not sure if WE will find what we remember as 50 years ago, but it would be refreshing. The last few I have attended it seemed the introduction of the night speaker was about a praise sermon in itself. Some facts but mostly just my [email protected]/

Camp meetings with no A/C, maybe in a tent with flies buzzing around

The closest things I know of in our day to campmeetings of 50 years ago are among the groups that still maintain the old-line 'holiness' standards of dress, hair, no make-up, etc. Since my wife wears light make-up, pants, and trims her hair, those folks generally don't view us as sanctified, and probably not even as saved. But if you're interested in fellowshipping with folks who think they're basically the only ones going to heaven, I do know they are still around if you really want to find them. I cannot in good conscience recommend or promote such groups, however.

Answer From my neck of the woods in the NC Piedmont amongst the older folk, preaching is louder and a little faster than teaching. And I know that because I heard one older lady say that. Some facts but mostly just my [email protected]/

Answer From my neck of the woods in the NC Piedmont amongst the older folk, preaching is louder and a little faster than teaching. And I know that because I heard one older lady say that. You almost have it, but preachin' also has more hacks and sweat than teachin' They tend to have more whoops and hollers too. Teachin' is more friendly, but preachin' will rile em up. I know it when I see it
