| 7/4/2016Scriptures: 2 Samuel 13:1–30; 18:24–33Tracing the downward steps in David's eroding family relationships, we now have Absalom murdering Amnon, a brother murdering a brother. The sword will never depart out of your household, David. Here he is groaning under the ache of that prediction. Now if that's not bad enough, after Absalom kills David's son, he then flees: rebellion. When Absalom fled, he went to Geshur. That's where his grandfather lived—his mother's father, who was a king in Geshur. He can't live at home, so he'll go stay with granddad while he licks his wounds and sets up his plan later on to lead a revolt against his daddy. And that's precisely what he does. Absalom leads a conspiracy against his father. Later, Joab murders Absalom. The sword has still not departed from David's house. David dearly regrets the day he ever even looked at Bathsheba and carried on a year of deception. And finally, in the backwash of rape, conspiracy, rebellion, hatred, and murder, he's sitting alone in the palace, no doubt perspiring to the point of exhaustion, and in comes a runner bearing bad news. Absalom has been killed. David is a beaten man. He's strung out, sobbing as if he's lost his mind. Every crutch is removed. He's at the bitter end, broken and bruised, twisted and confused. The harvesting of his sins is almost more than he can bear. |

| David had long since repented of his sins, and God had forgiven him. Yet , God also warned him there would still be consequences. So, is Pastor Chuck using this illustration to warn us of sin's consequences, even sins that God forgave? Or is he implying that David really had not repented and that this was all divine chastisement? Or is he saying that we all still will face consequences for sins we repented of and forsook years ago |

| Though God is gracious, it does not negate the principal of sowing and reaping that He set forth. To this day, I live with consequences of my own sinful choices, and even those of others. None of us lives in a vacuum. Our choices affect those around us; for good and for bad. |

| David was never the same after his sin of adultery and murder! Did he repent? Yes. Did God forgive him?Yes. BUT! The lesson here teaches us; Nobody sins in a vacuum! His sin effected his sons, who was not walking with God and look at Solomon who at the end walked into the ungodly life style of adultery ungodly lust, hence the generational curse! David years later would slip again and it would cost people tens of thousands lifes. Proverbs 6:32tells us adultery destroys ones soul! After seeing quote unquote Christians, Pastors walk in adult and see them walk away from God word and the things they once preached as the Word of God, I know these are some of the truest statements out of the 31,173 veres in Gods Word |

| I agree that adultery destroys ones soul. But through Christ I do not believe the soul has to stay destroyed or that a generational curse is a given, especially when it is one of his own children who has truly repented. The biggest problem IO see in such cases is that Satan does not let up on them. They feel condemned every time they try to break through to God. But again still, they gave the devil the ammo to use against them |
