I'm not answering for Phil, but unless times have changed drastically, you still have pastors in the COG, who for some reason, cannot be both a husband/father and a pastor. There are men, and I have known them, who could balance the two God given positions well. I have known some who tried but could not and I have known some that family came last. Church activity, meetings etc ALWAYS took precedence over his kids school activities. Those pastors felt they were failing Christ if they did not put the COG first in EVERY ASPECT of their lives. It is not only Pastors but I know church members kids TODAY who can't find a good thing to say about their dad because they were never allowed to be kids, attending church when the doors were open was the highest priority in the WORLD. Balance, BAlance and LOVE true love is needed. Some facts but mostly just my [email protected]/ |

Perhaps Phil was making a general comment. I dunno.I went back the other night and searched thru the links (before Bonnie posted hers) and actually saw the session in which Mitch Maloney accepted the position. He was excited, humbled and appreciative. But a day later...a different story.Watching the clip really touched my heart. To see a man (that I don't know) be given a great opportunity - an opportunity of a lifetime in the church world - lay it down to honor the love for his wife and family - WOW. So impressed that he realized how difficult this would be for his wife and was willing to step back for the sake of his family. It was heart wrenching and sad in so many ways, but such a love displayed! I cannot help but think God will reward him in some way for such a sacrifice.I also loved how PB Mark Williams started to move towards the voting process to fill the position and stopped. I can't let this moment pass, he said. And then invited other parents of special needs children to stand so the OBs could offer prayer for them. Our own Bill Coble was there and expressed on Facebook how meaningful this was to him. As the ministers were praying for these parents, I also noticed Bishop Tim Hillmaking his way to Mitch Maloney's side. We never know the load some people carry. It made me wonder if the COG has any kind of support system for other ministers going through similar circumstances. I hope, perhaps this touching moment will shine light on this need and create a way to offer help and hope to those dealing with such issues. God bless Mitch Maloney and his famiy.. Yes - it was good. It was real. And seeing a man giving up a great honor - and a meaningful task (something we all wish) - was very moving. It made me rethink my own desires vs. the job God has called me to do in my family - a job no one else can do.I was blessed to see it on streaming |
