Post subject:  Cojak: Coy Phillips

I just learned something that surprised me. A friend who is a writer (and not associated with the COG in any way) has been married 30+ years, was married in a ceremony by a Church of God preacher by the name of Coy Phillips. He is from Alabama. I just went to the HQ site and I have forgotten how to search for ministers names. I am sure Coy would be elderly if he is still alive. I was just curious. If you know of Coy give me a shout.UPDATE: I have learned (thru Acts) that Coy and his wife were killed years ago in an auto accident. YOu don't know if you don't ask. Coy has a friend that reads Acts. This is another point for this forum, AS time passes my connection with the COG gets less due to the denomination's size (and maybe my age), but it is still a large family! Thanks, My Brother for connecting with me.

You can't search for specific ministers on the COG site unless they are pastoring. I looked up the name but didn't find him. There is a Coy Phillips on Facebook. Don't know if that's him or not. Is he from NC originally More of Him...less of me.twitter.com/camiracle77www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=691241499&ref=name

Is he from NC originally? I know I searched the file a couple years back for a couple names and their ministerial #'s, and had no problem. Maybe it is a privacy thing???Anyway, Carolyn he was from Alabama. I just learned he and his wife died in an auto accident many years ago. Sad. I was hoping to contact and strike up a conversation. But Heaven is the receiver of many wonderful folk..........................., maybe over there? Some facts but mostly just my [email protected]/

If there's a way to do it, I don't know how. I looked at the online bishop thing from GA, also. I wondered if he might be related to a Phillips I know in NC. Sorry to hear your friend has passed. Post subject:  Mark Ledbetter: Coy Phillips

was responsible for my first appointment as a Pastor. He was the Pastor of the Vestavia Hills COG (AL) and the District Pastor. He, his wife, and the Fraizer's, a young couple serving as Pastor of the Chelsea COG,all were tragically lost in an automobile accident on I-59 just north of Gadsden, AL, I'm thinking (and can be wrong) around 1980 +or- a year or two.I am grateful he helped me get started. Two churches lost their pastors in the same accident and a sad day in Alabama COG God-HonoringChrist-CenteredBible-BasedSpirit-Led

Thanks for the info Mark. It is hard to believe that 1980 was so long ago, to this old man it seems only yesterday. That was about the time I was leaving the USN as an old man of 42 (LOL).While attending the E. Belmont COG our pastor, Bro. Bobby Brackett, 'dropped dead' in his mama's yard as he finished a yard job his dad was working on and dropped dead a week before. No warning. I guess that was sorta like the suddenness of a wreck, without the tragic loss of others. Our church was stunned. I can imagine Coy's Church. Some facts but mostly just my [email protected]/

Thanks Mark. I got that clarification also. But there was another lady who died as a result of the crash. It is still very sad. I was hoping Coy was still alive when I posted the question. I ran across Coy Phillips name in a book by Rick WAtson, a writer from Alabama. It peaked my curiosity. Thanks again Mark for the information and the correction.
