I noticed at the GA that almost everyone elected to a position was called Doctor. Is this a new requirement to lead in the COG? I kind of feel sorry for the poor ministers who only have a Masters, Bachelors, High school diploma or no degree at all

Again, if the honorary doctorate is in recognition of bonafide real life experience - that excels above most others contributions in life - I have no problem with using Dr. title.Of course, guys like Elvis, or Bill Gates, or Neil Armstrong or Walt Disney - they would have no need of using the term Dr. if they received honorary doctorates - as their accomplishments speak for themselves...a title would add nothing to their name - so its kind of a catch 22.It would be ridiculous for me to call myself Dr. NBF - as it would add nothing to my legend.

I am not sure our leadership is paying attention to the unintentional consequences of all these doctorates. The enemy already attacks the mind of many of our bi-vocational/pastors and then they go to GA and hear about all these doctorates. Seems to me, this has the potential of driving a bigger wedge between our leadership and our front line warriors. I wonder how many of our front line warriors are simply unable to attend GA and they also pastor churches that are unable to send them? Do they truly have a voice in this great denomination?After GA - I noticed how the newly elected quickly appoint formerly elected folks to positions. Is this intentional so the formerly elected don't have to go back to the front line?Not complaining, I just have questions

Perhaps the wrong metrics are being used as qualifications. Instead of advanced degrees as a achievement in themselves, the real measures should be conversions, baptisms (water), Holy Spirit Baptisms, members added to church, giving based on per member averages in tithes and missions. Other factors could be church building built and paid for, new staff position and new ministries added. How about if your children are believers and are attending a COG, as well as being married to the wife of your youth?Those are some great metrics if you ask me.

I think you will win the day here OTCP.If Tom Sterbens has thrown down with you - then you know the walls will come tumbling down too.Question - someone being conferred apostleship (I see this on facebook now) - is that honorary or do we need an educational requirement or other metric for that, as well.I have friends that now always use the term Apostle when having their congregation refer to them.You need to take that on next
