What do you feel are some of the best steel guitar songs - what songs feature it the best. Though I play the guitar, I'm not familiar with the most proficient steel players.

When David Gilmour plays a steel on the solo at the end of the song High Hopes. No twang. No bluegrass. No country. Pure pristine sound the way it should be. A steel has never ever sounded better. The solo begins at 5:15.www.youtube.com/watch?v=tbQJPcOeiTk

Not steel, but dobro which is played in a similar manner. Jerry Douglas is perhaps the most talented slide and strings player in the world.www.youtube.com/watch?v=gukFvG8VbK4Or even better, here's a lap steel version of one of his best songs.www.youtube.com/watch?v=6ZaYPGcS nU

I got this one:Buddy Emmons www.youtube.com/watch?v=fhLqe2xbqS8I think i needed the 'seeing' part along with the music. Loved it. Not being around anyone cutting up with a Base before =, I liked that also.We had a steel guitar player at the Valdese and E Belmont church, when I ws a kid. I am sure we called them Hawaiian Guitars, didn't we? I played the trumpet but couldn't keep my eyes off the steel.Anyway Thanks. Some facts but mostly just my [email protected]/
