It is not a question as to whether God forgives all, though as we know, Jesus himself speaks of an unpardonable sin, and 1 John speaks of sin unto death, for which we should not even pray for someone who commits that. The question is, in light of all of Scripture, what are the conditions God gives for forgiveness, or are we automatically 'pre-forgiven' before we sin, or is repentance and confession necessary for forgiveness of each sin? |

I certainly believe in repentance. As for every sin. At times we sin and do not even recognize the sin. I believe it would be good to ask the Lord to forgive us of all our sins. I am a strong believer in Grace. But I do not believe we are covered for our pas present and future sins through one prayer Recorded Sermons @ www.pastorwiley.com |

Fortunately only God knows our hearts.Even Peter physically & verbally denied his Savior & was ready to go back to his original occupation ...but Jesus knew his heart & said He could use this kind of person to build His church upon.God knows our weaknesses & our lack of keeping commitments. He doesn't excuse a lifestyle of sin but He doesn't use a dry erase on the book of life where our names are recorded either.I agree with QW on the sin of blasphemy but I also know that in a moment of weakness a person who merely speaks, verbally blasphemes, may or may not really believe in their heart what they have spoken. I believe God knows our hearts so well that He can tell when we have given ourselves over to that magistrate of hell.I truly believe in repentance & to repent as often as one feels they have committed an offense. As a friend of mine once preached, 'if you have to ride the altar of forgiveness for the rest of your life then by all means do it!' Our lives in Christ aren't on the razor's edge where we constantly have to wonder if we've confessed all our sin or sincerely vowed to do better. All our sin was dealt with by one sacrifice that took away the sin of the whole world once and for all. Jesus isn't forgiving you or putting your sin away one apology at a time. He sits at rest in the joy that was set before Him, the pleasure of His Father. We sit right there with Him (Eph 2:4-10)Our faith accesses this saving grace, brought us into the kingdom, this redemption and the forgiveness of sins.Col 1:13 |
