What Christmas hymns or songs do you really need to have at a Christmas Celebration? These are some of the top ones as far as I am concerned:Oh Come all Ye FaithfulJoy to the WorldHark the Herald Angels SingAngels We Have Heard on HighNonessential songs would include 'We Wish You a Merry Christmas' or 'Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas' and any song that says Jesus was born in a manger. He wasn't born in a manger. That would have been really cruel to Mary to put her in a manger to give birth. I have heard stuff like 'We Wish You a Merry Christmas' or 'Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas at Churches in Indonesia.' I heard 'Auld Lang Sayne' in a Chinese bi-lingual church, but it turns out they used the tune for a real hymn and just used the weird traditional lyrics in English when they sang the English part |

There are several that are very nice tunes and certainly remind us of Christ's birth but aren't 100% technically/biblically correct.Joy to the World could be more than a Christmas song. I guess it is so linked to Christmas that people would not want to sing it any other time. But on every once in a great while I hear O Come All Ye Faithful at other times. |
