Growing up I remember more Bible Truths that were put across using an object lesson. My dad used many object lessons in sermons, on average of once a month.We attended Inverness COG for awhile with Bro Powers. He seemed to use a verbal object lesson using a member of the church. When an object lesson was not used he always had a compliment about something a member did lately. It created more of the family feel to a large church.We have attended River Walk COG in SAnford off and on lately.(when we weren't on vacation LOL). Bro & sis Tanksley have a bang-up music program. The music is not my forte anymore, but My wife is thrilled. My hearing is still more mechanical than I hoped by now.BUT this pastor is one of the best for weaving in an object lesson. At times it is objects, other times in the middle of the sermon he will have a church member come up front and testify (using a microphone), to something that has happened lately that supports his sermon. I am sure the person knows they are to be called, but it works amazingly well, and is woven right into the message.Since my work was mostly with children, I thrived on Object lessons Kids love it and learn by it. I am a firm believer that not just kids, but the right object lesson drives a message home.I will never forget my dad telling me when I thought I was a preacher, Son, I strive to say at least one thing that folks can remember , at least for a week.After hearing that, I started noticing, I hardly remembered what some messages were about two days later.Do you use object lessons?
