When I was working with the government in Washington, DC, one of my cousins from Bassett, VA, who runs a business putting rock siding on houses, bridges and fireplaces, said, Doyle, whatever you people do in Washington, please don't stop Mexicans from coming to this country. If I could not hire them, I'd be out of business in two weeks. He shared that it was almost impossible to get other people to work. Not long after that I was preaching near Vidalia, GA. One of of the church board members told me, that if it was not for the Mexican laborers, the onion crops would lay in the fields and rot.In both cases, they shared that the Mexicans were such hard workers. They showed up on time for work. In some cases, after a 20-minute break for lunch (they could have taken an hour), they were back at work - and they worked until the job was finished for that day and did not complain. There are other good things about Mexicans. To my knowledge, there have been no terriorist attacks from Mexicans. A lot of the money they earn is sent home to Mexico to help support their family there. Family is vitally important to them.In addition, their culture is Christian oriented, though just like here in the states, not everyone's life reflects that.Surely there is a way for people who want to work, people who are family-orented and are respectful to Christ, to have a place in our culture. There must be a way to let them come here on a documented work visa and then go home when the work is [email protected]

You have a point, however, how do you get this suggestion to happen? What do we do with all of the drugs pouring in?How do we stop it? Why are we paying for all the entitlements? Some pointed questions.

Probably nothing will keep all illegal drugs out of our country but maybe the wall will help stop the flood of it. I sure hope so.And I totally agree, people coming here illegally should not be getting financial support from the government. However, possibly a case can be made that giving them some help, may help keep crime down by some who are inclined that way. Doyl

Besides the 1 million permanent resident cards given by the U.S. each year (15% going to Mexicans), apx 500, 000 guest workers are permitted to come here as well, most being Mexican. That number can increase whenever business owners ask that it be. However, many American business owners prefer the illegals because they can avoid paying social security taxes by paying them under the table. The idea that we need illegals is false

Nothing was said about illegal Mexicans. WE have always depended on work permits for foreign labor. Our biggest problem is NO ONE KEEPS TRACK. I understand that is on purpose from the governing authorities. I agree that most Mexicans, my neighbors here in Deltona are good hard working people. And in my opinion since the Government BOTH PARTIES, allowed the record keeping to sloppy or non existent it needs to be addressed. In all my building I only used one Mexican crew, and they did work. They worked like we American used to work with a very good work ethic. Funny thing that record keeping. We can keep track of every cow/calf/bull in the USA and cannot keep track of people.I do believe in a 'path to citizenship' for the illegals who have been here for years and have no criminal records. Someone smarter than I can figure the path. Some facts but mostly just my [email protected]/

I agree that many Mexican workers are very hard-working dedicated people. It is almost impossible to become legal if you came into the country without documents. From what I understand, many people try, but they are often taken advantage of. I've heard stories of some who have gone to a lawyer who promises to help them, but all they do is take their money. If they stop paying the lawyer, the lawyer turns them over to the officials, and they are deported More of Him...less of me.twitter.com/camiracle77www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=691241499&ref=name

I remember going to a large climate controlled 'high end' flee market in Georgia near I-85, but in the middle of nowhere, that was full of Mexican people. It had Mexican food in the food court. The place was probably about 25 miles from Gainesville. I went there several years ago, and that mostly white southern town had turned to about 30 to 45% Mexican, due to workers coming to chicken plants there. There were Mexican grocery stores and all kinds of stores for Mexican products.I think a lot of white Americans don't like their culture changing. Some unskilled workers do not like cheaper Mexican labor taking their jobs, especially if there are illegal workers. But it sure is nice to get some decent Mexican, or at least Tex-Mex food in the middle of nowhere outside of the big city in Georgia, too. I think a lot of people object to the cultural and ethnic landscape changing so much. There used to be an outcry against Irish immigration

I cannot remember the Irish problem, but I did hear & read of it.But you are right. When I was young we had Jews in our town, I was even named after one who owned a clothing store down town Gastonia. But I did not know he was a Jew. I only knew Black and White. Now the landscape in our little town is every ethnic group, even Muslim.Yes many of the older folk do resent it.
