The joy of missionary itineration. Inspiring congregations to become more involved in missions and seeing young people respond to the Call of God to full time cross cultural ministry. Recently I was invited to speak at a small church where a few years ago they were doing very little for missions. Their reason was, as a small church they had never been given an opportunity. Since the visit of the mission rep who introduced Scotland to them and presented them not only an opportunity but also a plan on how to be more involved. This small church has given THOUSANDS of dollars to missions and missionaries. They have been involved in traveling to and ministry in, Europe, Africa, Honduras, Ecuador, and Nicaragua. These kind of congregations and pastors make all the travel and preparations a JOY for missionary itineration. BTY, God has blessed this small congregation!!! They have just sold their church building and parsonage, made an offer on a plot of land, and have drawn up plans to build a multi-ministry international center to seat 300 people! To the Pastors: how many missionaries do you invite to speak each year to the congregation? How do you feel is the most effective way to raise missions fund for itineration grandson missionaries? To Church Members: what is your favorite type of mission service? What is the message you like to hear from a visiting missionary: Preaching? Evangelism and healing? Stories from the mission work? Explanation of the need for support and report of how monies are spent? Transparent question: do you stay home when you hear there is a missionary scheduled? Trying to improve my communication skills and seeking help for services Denni Dennis TannerAdministrative Bishop Scotland |
