Alabama COG Pastors are very upset And this is why. Over the last 8 years the top churches in the state have been filled with out of state men, and 2 of those churches have been filled twice with an out of state pastor. A scandal at a south Alabama church was covered up and an out of state pastor was brought in to replace the disgraced former pastor. In return, not 1 pastor from Alabama has been offered a church in the various states where the out of state pastors came from. It is being said that many pastors will boycott camp meeting this year but it is to early to see if this will hold true. |

It ain't too smart of a young pastor to Boycott anything that the state backs. Just saying. Some things are facts. Most times boycotts are in voice only, not in actual practice. It is accordint to how strong or solid one's pastorate is. Some facts but mostly just my [email protected]/ |

It's a new day in the COG... for some time state lines have not mattered nearly as much.ALSO, In most large churches, Overseers are now at the mercy of the governing body in that local church, and most have strong preferences as to who they want their Pastor to be.I know for a fact Pathway asked for Travis, Oak Park asked for David, and Loxley asked for Brian. Didn't Mark Leonhardt (Alabama) leave Cathedral of Praise in Gadsden, AL and go to the #2 church in SC? Don't you think the 10+ in-state guys who interviewed expected one of them to get it?? But, when a Church council makes its mind up, there's very little an Overseer can do. |

This mindset is very worldly. Reminds me of my days working a secular job. Who among us hasn't felt passed over at some point? But you have a choice to become bitter or to become better. I remember at one particular job, it seemed that the company would always hire from outside when a management position became vacated. Seemed to kill the morale of some because they were not promoted from within. But I always wondered if it was not their negative attitude that held them back instead of being passed over. |

Every time I hear this phrase I cringe. Seems evertime I hear it anymore some moral mooring has been tampered with, somebody has had an affair, somebody has left a spouse and spotted a new one, etc. |

Bold above my emphasis. But the comment is one of the best and worth taking time to consider.M16 may not be one passed over, but he also knows there is ALWAYS preferential treatment, as the commenter says, it is in secular jobs also. that includes the military and religious worlds. Many times 'it just appears to be preferential' Some facts but mostly just my [email protected]/ |
