Sorry, but if there is even a hint of truth to this, it just reinforces my opinion that the AG isn't what it used to be. And lest I run afoul of anyone who thinks this merger would be a good thing, I will bow out now “Hell will be filled with people that didn’t cuss, didn’t drink, and may even have been baptized. Why? Because none of those things makes someone a Christian.”

Today. If this story is true, no one is aware of it nor have they heard any rumors of of it. These are people in middle mgmt in Springfield. Of course, it might be a closely held secret but they haven't heard about anything like this. Jimmy severed all ties and was unwilling to go thru our restoration processes. He also sent a book to EVERY AG pastor entitled To Obey God rather than Man. Technically it was sent by a surrogate but he did it.

He has apparently shown for over 20 years that he has not went back to that lifestyle of the flesh.Could he be in a position where he wants the former days to be forgiven & to submit himself to a denomination? Possibly!Does he need to go thru the reconciliation process? I think he has suffered plenty over the years knowing what all he has lost.Maybe his family has urged him to make things right ...maybe a doctor has told him to get his house in order.Do we somehow benefit by taking a guy who sinned (like as if we don't) & make him re-hash his sins so that we can say 24 months later, OK, now you are ready to minister again? It's one thing to be forgiven by God but it's a total different thing to be forgiven by man.Not one ounce of me is condoning what happened but folks it was 30 years ago & I don't think his grave marker will read, Here lies Jimmy Swaggart, Liar, Cheater, Swindler, Adulterer, Drinker, Pornographer, MinisterWe've had guys come back. We've had guys shown special privileges. Will I watch his program & financially support him? Most likely not!I think his son has a few lessons yet to be learned.Res & I had a close connection to the family at one point years ago & I think we'll hear confirmation from Res one way or another pretty soon. Hint of truth of this actually happening “Hell will be filled with people that didn’t cuss, didn’t drink, and may even have been baptized. Why? Because none of those things makes someone a Christian.”

Could the college benefit from Family Worship Center, if they still call it that, being A/G? I could see that. They could draw from a pool of A/G faculty, maybe. It must be hard to get Bible College faculty if you are independent and have a reputation for being against other Pentecostals. But I don't see what the A/G would get out of it, especially with some of the comments Swaggart has made

I would hope that the AG leadership would be above prostituting themselves in such a manner as this. They don't need money from JSM or any of his ilk to support their missions programs. Of course, they wouldn't be the first to turn a blind eye in order to stuff their coffers, nor will they be the last “Hell will be filled with people that didn’t cuss, didn’t drink, and may even have been baptized. Why? Because none of those things makes someone a Christian.”

FLRon, who are the 'ilks' you are referring to that are connected to JS?I left the A/G in 2000 to pastor this CoG in Modesto but I still have a lot of A/G friends & missionaries, in fact we have one coming to do a presentation on July 9th. I've never heard of the A/G missionaries having too much money so unless it comes from filthy lucre or of the such I don't think it would be a bad thing to receive funds from JSM if everything was done properly in order. For the record I agree with my former A/G brother, QW, when it comes to the possibility of JS coming back to the A/G. I would hope that it happens with a heart felt apology & that he would recant all negative things he has said or implied about this wonderful denomination.
