I have a question for the COG ministers here. If the denomination tells a credentialed minister to surrender their credentials, what happens if the minister refuses to do so? Supposing the minister doesn't surrender them, is the minister somehow listed as refused to surrender credentials, or some other designation? I realize the minister is no longer credentialed in the eyes of the denomination, I've just wondered about what that looks like on paper “Hell will be filled with people that didn’t cuss, didn’t drink, and may even have been baptized. Why? Because none of those things makes someone a Christian.”

The best possible scenario is for the minister to voluntarily surrender his/her credentials.

The best possible scenario is for the minister to voluntarily surrender his/her credentials. If the denomination requires the credential to be minister to surrender said credentials, the minister's status is that of revoked credentials. Now, the minister may refuse to turn in his/her certificate, and in such cases the denomination has no authority to forcibly take the certificate from the person; however, the certificate would be null/void. Thank you OTCP, that explanation makes sense to me. The credentials would simply become null and void, or worthless “Hell will be filled with people that didn’t cuss, didn’t drink, and may even have been baptized. Why? Because none of those things makes someone a Christian.”

Why on earth would the denomination ignore a request like this? What would they gain by ignoring you? Seems to me that if you have made it clear that you no longer wish to continue in the fellowship it would be a simple thing to accept your decision “Hell will be filled with people that didn’t cuss, didn’t drink, and may even have been baptized. Why? Because none of those things makes someone a Christian.”

I read once here on Acts that when a person, like myself, surrendered their license voluntarily, there was still a note attached that the license were removed with cause. I have no idea if that is true or not. Since I do not care one way or the other I never checked. Some facts but mostly just my [email protected]/

Seems to me that if you have made it clear that you no longer wish to continue in the fellowship it would be a simple thing to accept your decision. It was both hilarious and frustrating. I started by just not sending in reports and assumed I would receive a letter threatening to revoke my credentials. No letter...six months later I received a preferential ballot for the State Overseer. I contacted the State Office, spoke with a secretary, asked to be removed from the mailing list and for my credentials to be revoked. Out of curiosity, I logged in to ministerial reporting a few months later. It was still active! I updated all of my delinquent reports (almost a year's worth!) with ZEROES and a note in the comments to please remove me from the system. NOTHING! Then, I allowed immaturity to creep in! I started posting numbers along with a note. I will refrain from discussing the nature of the numbers or the note! Finally, I was cc'd on a letter from Cleveland to my state office. A week later, I received an unpleasant note from the SO stating they were revoked.

Sad story. Seems like perhaps a face to face meeting was in order if you really wanted to turn in your license. Though I guess you got what you wanted in the end. You don't have to stalk, bro. I sent mine directly to the General Overseer. I could not trust the state overseer to properly process my withdrawal from Cleveland's oversight. Just saying....... Charles A. HutchinsSenior Pastor SPWCCongregational Church of Godwww.spwc.church
