I have heard a few comments lately at churches I have attended about pastors who seemed to be comfortable at a average church, no debts, no stress, drawing a salary, drawing his SS, seldom preaches, and has a lot of visiting preachers. I am near 80 myself and can work 6 hours a day so I think the health & age would not be a problem. The term 'Young Turk' has come up here. I heard this from one of those! The point he was making that there are too many pastorates filled by retirees that should have a younger man/woman with a vision for the lost at the helm, not just a caretaker.Any opinions here Some facts but mostly just my [email protected]/

I could have easily continued to pastor and coasted on 'til retirement. The reason I left is the reason you sited. I knew they needed fresh vision and excitement or the church would not last long. I think most of the people still resent me for leaving. I will say that I did what I felt was best for me and the church. If it was a mistake, so be it. I don't really miss pastoring though. I am still looking for a church, not to pastor but to join.

[quote=diakoneo...I am still looking for a church, not to pastor but to join. [/quote]As simple as it sounds, as you have probably already found out, that is tough. That is a fact. Some facts but mostly just my [email protected]/
