Paul seemed rather positive about the idea of all going to church and prophesying, including telling the secrets of an individual’s heart through prophesying. Prophesying can fortell things like a famine. One man in the Bible knew where another man’s father’s lost donkey’s were through revelation.
I’m always speaking against drugs because the affect it has had on my life. I also am passionate for helping homeless people because I have seen cold winter nights with no home.
Bottom line, people are afraid of the Church because the Church of today places emphasis on scorecards and counts converts rather than taking genuine interest in the issue in front of them. Jesus fed the 5,000 because they were hungry, nit to prove anything. He knew who heard and didn’t.
You have to be able to identify people and deliver messages correctly or the lines become crossed and then it appears the Church is a big mind game. A Pastor is an assistant to the one who tends the pasture. The most sensitive topics require giving genuine interest. This means sometimes leaving the 99 for the 1. Drug addicts don’t want everyone to know their business, it brings them shame. They will avoid you if you become a campaign against it. The Word of God is the only answer and not many individuals are qualified to administer such attention because they are speaking aimlessly without regard to who they aim their planned out lesson plan that is prepared in advance rather than genuine interest in Holy inspiration.
How many preachers preach on ‘he that puts away his wife commits adultery, and he that marries her that is put away commits adultery’? Some of you would probably say you’ve heard a sermon on that recently. But it’s controversial, so some preachers avoid it.
How many of you have heard anything from the pulpit on church discipline and not keeping company with those who don’t repent? That’s in the Bible, too.
There are lots of things that should be addressed that aren’t addressed much in some churches. If a church doesn’t have any drug users should the topic be addressed often? What if there aren’t any youth int he church? Should juvenile deliquency frequently be addressed?
Read the story of Richard Roberts in Wikipedia today and yes he has had some failures ( marriage, drinking ) but overall he has done a world of good. Sometimes we have to accept the bad with the good and let the Lord do the judging.
