There is no rule in scripture against interpreting your own tongues. He that speaks in a tongue should pray that he may interpret. The Bible doesn’t require the use of microphones, but if we have mics, shouldnt’ we pass them around to those who are interpreting or prophesying? Recognizing someone during the tongue and interpretation thing could distract, couldn’t it? This is something holy, not something to impose some sort of Roberts Rules on.
Last Sunday I gave a tongue and then waited and prayed out loud for an interpretation to be given and no one gave it so I exercised the gift of interpretation. It was an Hispanic service.
