I am thinking about getting a few members together to brain storm ideas for moving our church forward. A few new attenders have commented to me about the strong presence of the Lord in our services and according to them that is rare in our area.The church attendance is mid 30’s to mid 40’s and is made up of people from the age of 28 to 93, most are in their late 40’s to early 50’s. Lack of finances has always been an issue as well as consistent attendance.All the people tell me they are excited about our church, but I have only one or two who invite anyone to church.I have a couple of people who have ideas, but never want to be the ones to implement them and that is my problem. We can come up with some great ideas, but I can rarely get anyone to do anything.
I never understood the phrase “prayed through”…

good question! It started back with Trump’s presidency. Jackie and Cheryl Johns of the Theological Seminary hastily formed a “support group” for students who were “anxious” about the “deportation of illegal immigrants” and the ban on Muslim countries where the extremist, “terrorist” Muslim radicals were coming from.
They were reporting many students were fearful of deportation; many afraid for their parents back home. The ensuing FB communications began relating this to Trump’s policies on deportation. Other Lee U faculty and staff were giving “horrific” accounts of the level of student’s fear. I gathered from the discussions it was becoming epidemic and a group must be formed to console these students.
Their “peeps” needed assurance and the object of their fear was President Trumpt’s deportation bans. Much of the student fear was exasperated by anti-Trump faculty and staff.
Many of the student body are anti-Trump and that is a part of freedom of speech however the staff and faculty are under restrictions of expressing biases.
They make anti-Trump statements on FB and when you make contrary statements they immediately block you. This is not a reflection of the University. It is a failure of the faculty and staff as individuals.
Many are strong feminist and the core of their beliefs is a desire to influence the denomination to allow women to become ordained bishops.
The under current of all this is a connection with the national anti-Trump movement.
