Technically there isn’t anything in the Declaration of Faith that would contradict a reformed theology
Jimmy Humphrey, the rock in the cogs (no pun intended) is Wesley and Whitefield’s cooperation in evangelism. One or the other if not both greatly compromised their beliefs.
Calvinism has already intruded, along with other unspoken changes. It’s sort of like, “I have a pen and a cell phone!”
Calvinism in the A/G is acceptable but in the CoG a Calvinist is a big ole hypocrite and the church that let him in was ignorant of the DOF!
no, it is Arminian however Calvinism and Arminianism can be compatible. The A/G is compatible to Calvinism.
Much of Calvinism has influenced many in the church. Like iy or not. Many scholars in the colleges and seminaries use and quote from the works of Karl Bart and other calvinist influenced writers such as Bohoffer. Credal statements by Calvinist groups must have been at least an influence on our own DOF since many who help formulate it were graduates of Calvinist seminaries. Just my thoughts.
And how many times is that Declaration even reviewed with the membership?
Seldom in my experience
