Can a house or building be possessed by demons?

Acts20.com NEW Acts-Celerate

I have been asked by another pastor to go to a friend of a friend’s house and cast out demons that live in their house. What I have been told is this couple moved into this house last month and have seen shadows and hear ping pong balls bounce down the steps leading to the upstairs. They don’t play ping pong and have never owned ping pong balls, but found some under the stairs.Unless I overlooked it, I have found nothing biblical that supports demons living in houses.

  1. I’m not a pastor EL, but I think I would suggest the other pastor go cast the demons out.Unless the house in question is a new construction, there could be thousands of explanations for ping pong balls being found. Also in my experience in the building business, MANY HOUSES MAKE NOISES and there are hundreds of reasons for that. ________________Some facts but mostly just my [email protected]/

  2. Tell them your fee is 1500.00.Cash up front,no refunds, then go.Pray for the folks that live there either way________________

  3. I do know that Roman Catholic exorcists sometimes are called upon to rid houses of what they call demonic infestation. In my experience, charismatics typically believe that buildings can be inhabited by demons. (I once knew a charismatic group who prayed and commanded the ‘Baptist spirit’ to leave the church facilities they had purchased from a Baptist congregation).

  4. No.These folks have probably been messing around with the occult. Talking to palm readers. Watch scary movies. Messing with Ouija boards. Entertaining these type spirits.

  5. Is your friend scared to go by himself ? Like Diakoneo said, it seems that certain people are more susceptible to this kind of thing. I have a good (Christian) friend who is convinced there is an older home in his neighborhood that is haunted. Strange things supposedly happen- mysterious appearances of people, furniture moving, so on and so forth. I argue that demons don’t inhabit inanimate objects, they look for a living vessel. But honestly the Bible says so very little about the nature of demons, their origins, etc. The Catholic Church seems to have the market cornered on exorcism. Not surprising though, since their theology includes interceding on behalf of the dead. There are certainly things that defy logical explanation. There are a couple of ways you could handle this. You could explain to this couple that you don’t believe the house is demon- possessed, but that you would be glad to pray a prayer of blessing in the house. Or you could simply decline to get involved. What always concerns me is the setting of precedent. I don’t like to feed superstitious behaviors by accommodating them. I also don’t want to be known as the guy who will exorcise your house . That could keep a pastor real busy in a big city

  6. I have not witnessed it myself, but heard an evangelist whom I respected relating a personal experience about something like that.

  7. the friends of these people tomorrow with the other pastor. I don’t have a good feeling about any of this. I have had encounters with demon possessed people, but never with a supposedly demon possessed house.I am waiting on the direction of the Holy Spirit and until then I will not proceed any further with this.Honestly, I feel this is a demonic trap to upset what the Lord is doing in our church. After four years here, the people are hungry for the Baptism of the Holy Spirit. We have verified reports of people being healed of cancer. Others are believing God for their families salvation, kids being delivered from addictions and some stepping into ministries where when I first arrived here, were happy just showing up for church.

  8. I heard Dr. Mark Williams preach on this very thing at one camp meeting night. He talks about he and his wife after night of unrest going through his house and anointing it with oil and Praying the Blood of Jesus over it and telling the devil he had to leave. he said they had no more sleep less nights after that. I believe it 100% the devil and demons can occupy anything and almost anybody________________

  9. You might be muddying the waters by conflating what is of the flesh and what is demonic. As one evangelist said, You can’t cast out the flesh.

  10. The lack of any scripture in any post thus far may say something, but a demon has to be somewhere, they aren’t omnipresent. So I would suppose one could camp-out at a location. The house where God dwells is people.Luke 11:24“When an unclean spirit goes out of a man, he goes through dry places, seeking rest; and finding none, he says, ‘I will return to

  11. Aren’t demons fallen angels? Angels can be in locations outside the body. In fact, I’ve never heard of God’s messengers inhabiting a body. Satan appears in the gospels outside a body. In Job 1Satan says he had been roaming throughout the earth, going back and forth on it. This to me seems to suggests geographical locations and not bodies. So I would think it is very plausible that demons could inhabit a house although I also think they like inhabiting a body. Destroying lives seems to be the preoccupation. IMHOBut no personal experience of this type I was aware of. Although, when things have gone wrong around the house, I’ve certainly wondered about it. Attacks on me are more covert operations. Many times I think Satan would like us confused about the source of our troubles than to be sure about those times they were coming from him. When I do battle I keep in mind that I personally have no power over demons except what God gives me. I like to think of it in this way: the only place I can talk tough to Satan is close to my heavenly Father through Christ Jesus.
