Did God speak through a donkey?

Acts20.com NEW Acts-Celerate

I can’t find that in my Bible. I can see where a donkey was enabled to speak. I can’t find where the donkey prophesied________________

  1. But the KJV say the ass spoke numbers 22:28 And the LORD opened the mouth of the ass, and she said unto Balaam, What have I done unto thee, that thou hast smitten me these three times?29 And Balaam said unto the ass, Because thou hast mocked me: I would there were a sword in mine hand, for now would I kill thee.30 And the ass said unto Balaam, Am not I thine ass, upon which thou hast ridden ever since I was thine unto this day? was I ever wont to do so unto thee? And he said, Nay

  2. I think Link is familiar with that passage. If you will note, he is not asking whether or not the donkey spoke. (He says in the OP that he can see where the donkey spoke!) If I understand him correctly, he is asking whether or not the words which the donkey spoke were words from God or prophetic words in nature. In other words, is it accurate to say the Lord spoke

  3. We covered this passage last Wed during our Chronological Bible Study. What impressed me was that Balaam replied when the donkey spoke.I would have run, wide open. ________________Charles A. HutchinsSenior Pastor SPWCCongregational Church of Godwww.spwc.church

  4. I am not sure if your reference to Balaam prompted my post, but you get my point. I’ve heard many people say, If God can talk through a donkey, he can talk through you.We can look at what the donkey said. Balaam did not beat God three times. The donkey calls himself a donkey. The donkey was speaking. God opened the mouth of the donkey. That’s not the same thing as God speaking through a donkey.

  5. Tom Sterbens,Do you like how the KJV of II Peter puts it,the dumb ass speaking with man’s voice forbad the madness of the prophet________________

  6. Link, would you say God used the donkey? If a preacher says something that benefits you, but it is not a direct quote from God, can one say God spoke through the preacher or must one only say God used the preacher?I’d be interested to know what you think the ramifications were of the donkey speaking. Why do you think God allowed the donkey to speak? (I started to use Tom’s phrase to what end to clarify what I meant by why, but I realized in this conversation that might not be so wise.)What is interesting is that the angel of the Lord says one of the same things the donkey says.Donkey: What have I done unto thee, that thou hast smitten me these three times?Angel of the LORD: Wherefore hast thou smitten thine ass these three times?
