My wife and I finally got around to watching The Shack on DVD. Let me say from the outset, that I am probably left of many here on Actscelerate. I do not see the devil behind every rock. Furthermore, I look at movies and books as entertainment. I do not read or watch them to inform my theology. So now that my preamble is over, here are a few of my takeaways.I’m not going to tackle all of the theological errors I saw in the movie. We don’t have enough bandwidth here for me to wax long on that. Having said that, it is very evident that there is a very clear message the movie is trying to hammer home. The author continually hits you over the head with this prevailing theme. Almost club-like in the way you are continually indoctrinated with what the author thinks God is/isn’t like. From an entertainment standpoint, my wife and I both found the story underwhelming. The plot was predictable, almost by-the-numbers in the formulaic genre of redemption that so many have echoed in the past. I saw the ending coming a mile away. Visually, some of the graphics were impressive (walking on the water, etc.).

I have watched it a couple of times.There is only one message:Your real problem is: you really don’t believe God is good.The whole story hinges on that question.If you don’t have a question about God’s goodness – the story may not be appealing to you.If you have ever had that thought – it is a great story________________
