I can’t help but be holy because I have been sanctified. I tried unsuccessfully to be holy while being only regenerated and justified but when the Sanctifier made me holy I was holy and remain holy!!!

Paul told the people in the Corinthian church that they were sanctified, and then warned them not to have sex with prostitutes.
If we are sanctified and holy due to God’s work regardless of us then why is it stated as a command;
“Be ye Holy”, 1 Peter 1:15&16,
2 Peter 3:2 & 11.
If anyone learned that lesson it should have been Peter.
I am stumped…i was taught by the church that i could lose my sanctification if i sinned.and have to do my first works over .that was over 40 years ago tho
